Fast, Safe, High-Quality Imaging for Your Pet

At North Richmond Vet Hospital, we’re proud to offer advanced radiology services using the Siemens MOBILETT Elara Max, a state-of-the-art digital mobile X-ray unit. This system allows us to perform high-quality diagnostic imaging for dogs, cats, and exotic pets quickly and safely—all within our purpose-built hospital.

What is Radiology?

Radiology (X-ray imaging) is a non-invasive diagnostic tool used to visualise your pet’s bones, joints, chest, abdomen, and more. It helps us detect injuries, illnesses, or abnormalities that may not be visible during a physical examination.

Why Our Digital X-ray System Stands Out

Our Siemens MOBILETT Elara Max offers exceptional imaging capabilities, providing:

  • High-resolution digital images for fast and accurate diagnosis
  • Portability, allowing us to perform imaging throughout the hospital for safer, more flexible care
  • Reduced radiation exposure compared to traditional systems
  • Rapid image capture and processing, minimising the time your pet needs to stay still

Conditions We Commonly Diagnose with Radiographs

  • Fractures and broken bones
  • Hip and elbow dysplasia
  • Arthritis and joint disease
  • Foreign objects (e.g. swallowed toys or bones)
  • Tumours or masses
  • Heart and lung disease
  • Bladder stones and urinary tract issues

X-rays can also be used in post-operative checks, dental evaluations, and to guide orthopaedic or soft tissue surgery planning.

Do Pets Need Anaesthesia for X-rays?

In many cases, pets can have X-rays while awake or under light sedation. However, sedation or anesthesia ensures optimal positioning and safety which results in better quality images and is less stress on your pet.

Radiology for Exotic Pets

Our experience with exotics—such as rabbits, reptiles, birds, and guinea pigs—combined with our mobile X-ray unit, allows us to safely capture diagnostic images for even the most delicate patients.

Integrated Care with Advanced Imaging

Our radiology services work hand-in-hand with our in-house CT scanner, ultrasound, and laboratory to provide a full diagnostic picture and ensure the most accurate and timely treatment for your pet.
